This page is a list of the 10 episodes in Season 2 of the show It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The big new thing this season is that a short, loud, rich old man named Frank shows up and says he is the dad of two of the friends, Dennis and Dee. He moves in and starts causing trouble with them.
The Questions & Answers part at the bottom answers a tricky one: who is Dennis and Dee's real dad? The show keeps changing the story on purpose because it is funny. First Frank is their dad. Then their mom says a nicer man named Bruce is really their dad. But their grandpa on their mom's side is still their real grandpa, even so. Season 2 hands you a father, then spends its finale taking him back. The show never fully settles the question after that, on purpose, and the murk becomes the joke. Here is the story, beat by beat.

The through-line. Frank stays "Dad" in every practical sense. He moved in, he pays, he never leaves. The biological question keeps getting re-opened by Bruce, then quietly proven beside the point in how the family actually works. The grandfather reveal is the show's sly reminder that the mom's side of the tree was real the whole time.
The Season 2 premiere, "Charlie Gets Crippled." Frank leaves the corporate world, forces his way back into Dennis and Dee's lives, moves in with Charlie, and starts bankrolling the bar. This is the show's single biggest change of shape: the four-person Gang (Dennis, Dee, Mac, Charlie) becomes the five-person Gang, and Frank's cash pays for half their schemes from here on.

From the very first episode Frank acts like a fifth kid with his own checkbook, a role the finale (see the flagship question above) fixes in place permanently.
In the Season 2 finale, stung by the Bruce Mathis reveal that his biological kids may not be his, Frank pivots. Instead of fighting for Dennis and Dee, he declares the Gang, Charlie especially, his real family by choice.

The show plays it as a punchline, and it fixes Frank's permanent place: the Gang's shared, feral father figure, the man who moves into Charlie's apartment and splits a pull-out couch with him for the next decade.
The McPoyles are the Gang's inbred rival family, a clan of pale, milk-drinking creeps the show wheels out whenever it needs someone even worse than the Gang. The twins Ryan and Liam turn up in Season 1 and come back in Season 2 with their milk demands and incest gag intact.

Their whole bit is family kept as a closed loop: warm milk, kept in the bloodline, everyone else in the room treated as the strange ones. That makes them a sharp foil for a show whose other big running question is who is actually related to whom.
The twins get their big paternity reveal in the Season 2 finale, and the same stretch of the show quietly reminds you that Charlie's dad was never around either. Charlie's father has been in prison for Charlie's whole life, and Charlie says flat out that he never met the man.

The one father figure Charlie actually gets is Frank, who moves into Charlie's apartment in the season premiere and never leaves. The show keeps Charlie's real paternity a running blank instead of answering it, the same way it keeps the twins guessing.
