### How does the story of Dennis & Dee's dad and grandfather evolve? *(spoilers thru S8)*

Season 2 hands you a father, then spends its finale taking him back. Beat by beat:

**S02E01, Charlie Gets Crippled.** Frank reappears, introduced flatly as Dennis and Dee's father, a rich businessman who wants to live like the Gang. The kids do not want him.

**S02E10, Dennis and Dee Get a New Dad.** Bruce Mathis contacts Dee claiming to be the twins' biological father. Their mother Barbara admits the affair, and that she let Frank believe the twins were his. As of the finale, **Frank is not their biological father.**

**S08E01, Pop-Pop: The Final Solution.** The twist changed the *father*, never the *mother*, so the maternal bloodline stays intact. Barbara's own father, **Heinrich Landgraf** ("Pop-Pop"), an ex-Nazi, goes into a coma, and the estate points to Dee and Dennis as "the only living blood relatives" who can pull the plug. They are genuinely his grandchildren, through their mom.

**The through-line.** Frank stays "Dad" in every practical sense. He moved in, he pays, he never leaves. The biological question keeps getting re-opened by Bruce, then quietly proven beside the point in how the family actually works. The grandfather reveal is the show's reminder that the mom's side of the tree was real the whole time.

The Season 2 premiere, "Charlie Gets Crippled." Frank leaves the corporate world, forces his way back in, moves in with Charlie, and bankrolls the bar. The four-person Gang becomes five, and Frank's cash pays for half of what they do after this.

### Who are the McPoyles?

The McPoyles are the Gang's inbred rival family, a clan of pale, milk-drinking creeps the show wheels out whenever it needs someone even worse than the Gang. The twins Ryan and Liam turn up in Season 1 and come back in Season 2 with their milk demands and incest gag intact.
