Twelve major publications posted mid-year "best of 2026" lists to albumoftheyear.org. AOTY's own aggregate still reads Coming Soon, so this tallies the twelve by hand, counting how many lists each album landed on and its placement-weighted points.
Twelve big music magazines each made a list of their favorite albums from the first half of 2026. This page counts up which albums showed up on the most lists. The more lists an album is on, the more people loved it.

The clearest consensus of the half-year: Robyn, Sexistential lands on 10 of 12 lists, with underscores, U (9) and Ratboys, Singin' To An Empty Chair (8, and the most weighted points at 32) right behind. Indie and left-field picks dominate the critical middle; pop and rap show up broadly but rarely near the top.
The album that the most magazines picked is Robyn, Sexistential. It's on 10 out of 12 lists! Next are underscores, U and Ratboys. Those three were almost everybody's favorites.

The board's primary sort is list count (breadth of agreement) because it is the least distorted by any one outlet's list length; points is the tiebreak and the secondary sort. Album titles are as canonicalized by AOTY, so the same release matches exactly across lists.
Being #1 on a list is worth more points than being #40. And landing on a short "top 10" list counts more than landing on a huge list of 50. We add up all the points, but the main way we rank is simply: how many lists is it on?
