"Asleep In The Trunk" — full-section edit list

Three ChatGPT critique passes judged against the book's actual pages 1–13. The pattern: the machine-read staff labels and MIDI boxes are right; the prose narration drifts away from them. One alignment pass clears most of it.

Interval ground-truth over F

Every verdict is interval arithmetic over the F root. Two book labels fail on contact; one fifth gets called a root.

PitchDegree over FWhere the book mislabels itVerdict
A♭minor 3rd (♭3)"M3 finally voiced" (p12)→ ♭3
D♭minor 6th (♭6)"♭9" in F5add♭9 (p5)→ ♭6

Hard errors — book contradicts its own notes

p3HARD
"three notes that establish F minor without ever stating its root … F is the root."
Fix: "without stating its third" — the cell is 5 + ♭7 + root.
p5 · p6HARD
F5add♭9, "♭9 above" — yet the ringing tone is D♭, called "the Phrygian ♭6" one page later.
Fix: F5(add ♭6) — D♭ is the ♭6; the ♭9 of F (G♭) never sounds.
p8HARD
caption (F → FM → FM7) for voicings F+A♭+C(+E♭).
Fix: Fm / Fm7 — "FM" reads as F major; the notes are F minor (the card's prose already says Fm).
p8HARD
heading "bars 102–139" and "nearly forty bars," while tab + MIDI verify 102–146 / 45 bars.
Fix: 102–146 everywhere; "45 bars."
p9HARD
MIDI box: "45 contiguous bars of bass-on-F dominant."
Fix: F is the tonic — "bass-on-F pedal."
p11HARD
lead cluster Eâ™+C labeled "â™7+1 of F = Fm7 7th color."
Fix: C is the 5th, not the root → ♭7+5; with no A♭ present it is F5(add ♭7), not Fm7.
p12HARD
"Fm (F+Aâ™+C, the M3 finally voiced)."
Fix: Aâ™ is the â™3 (the MIDI box on the same page says "Aâ™ = Fm").
p12HARD
returning A3 "confirming F major, by direct vocal declaration."
Fix: the raised major 3rd flashing over the F-minor field the band just refused to resolve. The book's whole thesis is the A♮-against-A♭ rub — calling it F major throws that away.

Overclaims — tighten to sounded tones

p3OVER
"root + 5 + â™7 = an F-Aeolian power-of-three."
Fix: a 1-5-♭7 cell cannot prove Aeolian (♭3, ♭6 absent). Use the staff's own Fm7(no3) · i7.
p7OVER
F7(no3) as a chord under the vocal Aâ™®.
Scalpel, not delete: as a function it is wrong; as a vertical at that beat, bass F + â™7 + vocal Aâ™® literally spell F7 tones. Mark it a momentary F7 outline (voice completes the stack), not a chord the band plays.
p12OVER
"F5 ↔ E♭5 … F major Mixolydian or F minor moves."
Fix: with no third sounding, only I↔♭VII root motion, third withheld.

Consistency & numerals

p13CONS
tab caption IV … I vs the staff right below it iv … i.
Fix: one set. Power chords are third-less, so neutral or consistent-minor numerals.
p11CONS
F5 labeled I inside an F-minor-center section.
Fix: "tonic, no third."
p9–10CONS
the outro card writes the tonic as uppercase I four times ("V → I," "the resolved I," "I (F5add9)," "4 bars of I") while the card declares an F MINOR CENTER and its own footnote uses "V → i."
Fix: lowercase i throughout the outro — surfaced by the completeness sweep.

Decisions for you — design, not defect

allDECIDE
Source rule: the cards cite the T7 05-05-2026 export at 173 BPM and FROMCDN at 120 BPM. Pick one master export for all bar references; treat the others as supporting pitch evidence.
p9–13DECIDE
Card order: the outro (p9–10) prints before the bridge (p11–12) and final chorus (p13). Song-chronological would be Y-part → bridge → final chorus → outro. A thematic grouping is also valid — your call.
p4 · p7 · p13DECIDE
Headings / sourcing: p4 "voice holds home" → "voice recolors one field"; p7 label the "bass-and-vocal reduction"; p4 add the Gtr-Mid provenance note; p13 state the final chorus enters the loop on D♭5 (chord content identical to the first chorus).
The one-line fix Run a single editorial pass with one rule: make the prose obey the staff label and MIDI box already printed on the same card. That alone clears errors 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, and 8. The book's argument gets stronger the moment the narration stops out-naming its own notation.
