The one-line answer
The album never got finished because the definition of the product changed three times, and each restart re-litigated the same wrong keys instead of copying the sheet that already worked. Across 59 chats in 38 days the album reached 1 song in the reference format and 2 graded sheets out of 10, while the effort sprawled into 47 separate live pages.

Three frameworks, each a fresh start
The work did not stall on one idea. It restarted on three. Each framework was a faithful build, and each redefined what "the product" was before the prior one reached ten songs.

The corrected pipeline: REUSE the vetted chapter facts, never re-derive a key from stems. This is the one that works.

Your own finish_plan_v2 (Jun 9) records the seam in plain text: it "supersedes finish_plan_2026-06-03.md… and the work then forked into the deep-chapter rewrite." A second finish plan, written six days after the first, is the fork made visible. A 33⅓ book ran in parallel the whole time, drawing 13 manuscript backups and a designed PDF, splitting the hours away from the sheets.
Why it never finished: eight root causes
The definition of done kept moving. Framework A, then B, then C. The reference was one closed set. The album became a moving target that was redrawn before any version covered ten songs.
The correctness substrate was never frozen. Keys came from an auto-detector that mis-called So Far So, The Alligator, The Mutiny, Jackie, and Endless Summer. Each framework re-derived keys, mis-keyed again, then corrected. keys_resolved.yaml carries six backups for one reason: the keys kept getting re-settled.
Regenerate-from-stems was the trap. The v5 skill names it directly: re-deriving from the basic-pitch stems read So Far So four different wrong ways. The vetted chapter already held the answer. That lesson landed last, on Jun 16, after most of the budget was gone.
The book competed with the sheets for the same hours. A 33⅓ manuscript and the analysis sheets ran at once. The manuscript drew 13 backups and a designed PDF. The sheets drew one finished song. Effort split, neither closed.
The live files were hand-held, so completion waited on manual steps. The book index.html was yours to edit. Every framework could only emit report-only diffs. The merge step in both finish plans waited on you hand-flipping keys and applying diffs, and that gate never fully cleared.
Two songs had no stems. Asleep In The Trunk and Jackie could not run the preferred stem-grounded path, so a fifth of the album was blocked by default.
The quality cadence was correct and under-run. One song per pass, never bulk-complete, is the right rule. Ten songs need ten closed passes inside one framework. No framework got past five before the next pivot.
The voice gate moved the bar mid-stream. The reference predates the anti-AI gate and leans on verbs like "sits" and on em-dashes. The album prose has to clear a gate that bans those, so every sheet carries a rewrite cost the reference never paid.

The fix: one framework, eight passes, no restart
Freeze the deliverable. It already exists.
The v5 reuse harness is the corrected pipeline, and the handoff is already written. Two songs cleared it and you graded them. The remaining work is mechanical and named.
Run/believeyoume-v5, one song per pass. REUSE the vetted chapter and model-rebuild facts. Never re-derive a key from stems. No new framework, no new audit, no third finish plan.

Asleep and Jackie still need clean stems pulled first, or they run MIDI-and-Songsterr only, the way the v5 roster already flags them. Everything else is reuse-and-render. At one song per pass that is eight passes to a closed, ten-song set in the cream reference format.
Why the Shiner album never got finished
You gave me one finished example: a neat set of song pages that show how the singing notes rub against the guitar chords. You wanted the same kind of pages for Shiner's album, called BELIEVEYOUME. We never finished it.
Out of 10 songs, only 1 got a page in the exact good style, and only 2 got checked and graded. We worked on it in 59 different chats over 38 days.
Here is why, in plain words:
1. We started over three different times. Each time we made a new kind of page, then stopped partway and began a new kind again.
2. We kept arguing about which musical key each song is in, because a computer kept guessing the keys wrong. Fixing the wrong guesses ate up most of our time.
3. Two of the songs had no clean sound files to work from, so they got stuck.
4. We had a good rule: finish one song, then start the next. The problem is we only ever finished two songs before jumping to a brand-new plan.
The fix is simple. Pick the ONE kind of page that already works. Do the other 8 songs one at a time. Do not start over, and do not let the computer re-guess the keys.
