Episode 5 "The First Look"

Each singer carries three temperature gauges from 1 to 10. They are averaged for the overall rank shown on the face.

Vocal Range (1–10)

Perceived low notes, high notes, control across registers, passaggio handling, belting, head voice, falsetto, riffs, and sustained notes, read from the vocal demands of the chosen song.

Vocal Ability (1–10)

Pitch accuracy, tone, breath control, phrasing, rhythm, emotional delivery, stage confidence, and consistency.

Style Range (1–10)

Count of distinct genre families the singer credibly shows, read from the song's genre, the vocal approach, and the singer's documented background. Related styles are merged into one family, so R&B, soul, and funk count as a single style, and pop, pop-rock, and alt-pop are read as close neighbors. A single audition song usually shows one family, so most Style scores sit low by design. The gauge only rises when a singer genuinely crosses families inside the performance, for example country into pop-rock, or carries a documented multi-genre career. Each card lists the exact families counted.

How the gauges match real online evaluation

• Vocal Ability is anchored to the in-show peer "likes." Every solo performance was scored live by the other contestants. That count is a real, quantified, public evaluation. Higher likes lift the Ability gauge. A count of "n/a" means it is not in the public record, not zero, so those reads lean on whether the singer advanced to form a band.
• Range and Style are song-anchored. No public metric measures range or stylistic breadth directly, so those gauges are read from the demands of the song and the documented background, and each card prints its anchor so the gauge can be checked.

Tiebreaks (when overall averages match)

• 1. Higher in-episode likes.
• 2. Made a band over did not.
• 3. Higher Vocal Ability.
