Tweezer 2025-04-23 jam peak — ixi analysis

An ixi-style read of the highest-development window of the jam. The band holds one C floor for four and a half minutes and lets the harmony recolor Trey's pentatonic poles. Every claim traces to the six demucs stems via ixi_evidence.json. The staves are transcribed off the guitar and bass stems with librosa pyin, Trey above Mike, the real notes from the loudest five seconds of each section. Mike's E natural on the pivot is the major-3rd flash the prose names, and Trey's C-to-G poles are read from the audio.

C minor pentatonic · the floor (7:45 to 9:49) · Mike pins C, Page flashes the major 3rd
Mike plants the whole window on C. The bass autocorrelation sits on C with G as its shadow fifth, and the combined note field across bass, keys, and guitar spells C minor pentatonic (C, E♭, F, G, B♭). The ♭3 (E♭) and the ♭7 (B♭) are the color, the blues skeleton over a floor that never resolves to a clean major. Page brightens the stack once around 8:50, letting an E natural ring, the major third borrowed into the minor field, one warm second before the jam slides back to the flat third. Trey rides the pentatonic poles, C and G and B♭, sitting on the floor rather than steering it. The feeling is patient and earthbound, a band settling into one color and trusting it.
favorite momentThe E-natural flash around 8:50, the major 3rd on loan over a C-minor-pentatonic floor, brightness the band gives back almost as soon as it borrows it.
C to G · the pivot (9:49 to 10:41) · one held G re-reads when Mike drops the root
Mike drops the root to G, the fifth becomes a temporary home. This is the signature ixi move played on a jam instead of a vocal. Trey is already living on G as his upper pole, so the same guitar G that was the 5th over C becomes the root over G while Trey holds still. The floor moves under him and the note re-reads. The keys hang C and A and B♭ over the new G root, a suspended and unsettled color that leans the jam toward V before it falls back home to C.
favorite momentTrey's held G turning from 5th to root the instant Mike drops to G, the jam pivoting on one unmoved note.
C · the build (10:41 to 11:50) · Trey fills the pentatonic gaps as the tempo pushes
Back on C. Trey starts filling the gaps of the pentatonic, the guitar content now adding D and F to the C, G, B♭ core, scalar runs replacing the wide pentatonic leaps as the energy climbs. The keys thicken underneath with B♭ and D. The tempo is alive through this stretch, the analyzer counts 86 micro tempo-shifts across the window, the pocket breathing faster while the lines get denser. The feeling turns from patient to driving, the floor unchanged while the activity on top of it doubles.
C · the crest, refusing home (11:50 to 12:15) · Dorian 6 rubs the blues ♭3, no clean tonic
The densest stretch of the window. A natural and E♭ sit in the stack at the same time, the major sixth of Dorian rubbing against the flat third of the blues, a two-color ambiguity right at the peak. Trey drives G, D, C to the edge. The jam never lands a clean tonic triad, it stays on the C pentatonic floor and rides out, resolution held off the table in the way ixi loves, the home chord we keep expecting and never get.
favorite momentIt rides out on the C pentatonic floor with no clean tonic triad, the blues keeping resolution just out of reach.
