inside of my DNA I definitely heard it
somewhere on the radio I'm assuming and
it really influenced me when I was
producing trans music in 2001 I really
want to figure out these chord steps so
here we go so I loaded up some picado
from logic
pro it's not quite the same but it'll do
it's actually not Chords it's two notes
intervals and I think there are some
variations so I just want to listen to
it one more time no sleep

okay so I already figured out the first
one which is this okay this perfect
fourth
[Music]
sorry sometimes it does that I think the
second
time
there this
time
[Music]
versus this
that's second
part sort of implies a chord change like
a an a major
chord but the second
[Music]
time get this pinch between these two
notes and it just feels like the top
notes encroaching upon the bottom note I
love that one
that tension is just so

delicious and then the second time it's
going to go up
[Music]
right and
then stay
[Music]
pinched oh my gosh okay so oh hello bug

um pinched

you get parallel thirds at the end of
this so there's like each time it's
[Music]
different the minor third is being sort
of surrounded by this kind of hard
fourth and this tth pinching uh major
second and then here you also have some
something similar a a third with a
fourth right next to it
and the fourth also just feels like
you're bracing I don't know it's really
strong much more vulnerable version of
it I think and then this is great this
is like when uh sort of a melodic line
pushes the ceiling up you know so far
this has been the highest note in the
whole
song so it feels like the top but then
when the melody pushes
through it's just super exciting and
then it Dives down to the
tension relieves it with this third but
then you get
this parallel third action and then the
base um is let's

see bass is
going
U and these are the the roots of chords
um
B
minor F minor and G major and in Roman
numeral analysis this is minor 1 this is
minor five love and flat
six My One True

love it the chord progression is great
because you have your home base and you
have this icy minor five
chord which is just ignored I think in a
lot of music it just doesn't happen
much usually it's
this people just really prefer that
dominant major five chord but I like the
minor a lot
and then you follow it up with the best
chord in the world flat
six and that's your sort of cadens sing
chord that's what brings you back home
and it just it's a half step away from
the minor
five it's just exciting and dramatic now
they're not playing those chords but
that's the implication of the
baseline or you could just think of it
that way you go to a very stable place
in the scale and you go half step up and
create this drama super syncopated
Rhythm du D D D D D D D D D D D D so it
kind of squares off at the end but
there's this one accent that just keeps
jabbing at you D D D D D D D du d d du
but yeah the quality of this
picado and it just had this like bright
shimmery kind of silvery sound that just
completely struck me when I first heard
it I like the rest of the song but this
is definitely my favorite part this
moment is just
so fulfilling I could listen to that
last part looped for a very very very
long time it's really fun to play I
think the hardest thing about it is just
keeping the Rhythm it's just very
syncopated um but you know mechanically
simple as pie well I'm going to reward
you and we're going to listen to a
little bit of the track that I produced
when I was SE 16 17 years old called
Don't Hurt silver and you'll hear it

I put a trone in there I did not like
trones back then but I did it and it
sounded really cool so yeah you can hear
it the rhythm is different the Baseline
is different but there are clear
patterns that's all you get all right
