hey welcome back to my series on
Deftones white pony this video is about
streetcarp
[Music]
[Applause]
one
[Music]
six six
five more
I confess
now take it home
yeah somebody
else
I just love it when Abe smacks that
snare just smack smack smack okay so
this song is I guess a lot shorter than
the others didn't realize that and it
also has a fewest listens on Spotify and
I'm so sad about that because I really
think this song is fantastic but I can
see why people wouldn't be like it's my
favorite but I love it
rhythmically so interesting the main
riff reminds me a little bit of
[Music]
what was the other song with the Riff
that went dead
Elite
and you know what Elite at streetcarp
definitely have some shared DNA I would
say they have a similar style to them
a lot of screaming and just a little bit
more like but that chorus is actually
kind of beautiful
um
so this this riff has a bit of that like
I'm like doing little like you know step
wise little Doodle at the bottom and
then I'm like jumping up if I were the
guitarist so uh
[Music]
[Applause]
you see you know
[Music]
also power chords
is that hard is what he's doing hard
like because he seems like he's having
to move
pretty quickly but he's having to move
the whole thing right or is it a bar I
don't play guitar I really should you
know it's it it has only recently
occurred to me how weird it is that a
piano player is analyzing rock music
like guitar based music
uh it's normal for me but I certainly
would have a lot more insight if I
played guitar anyway
[Music]
okay so this one's an F sharp
[Music]
okay Melody
[Music]
there's the ninth again yep he loves it
he loves it so do I
but you're that girl
it's sharp teeth
snaps at the wall
could have just gone won't come down but
he's like won't come down
attention
I like that jump up with the fifths of
the power chord I think that sounds
really cool
oh my gosh I gotta do the song with this
okay so you get this so start with your
whatever key you're in the main power
chord starting on your first scale
degree then when you go to the flat two
chord play it as a sus two
listen how good that sounds
ah
I just love that sound I love the way
those chords sound uh with all that
distortion on them so well
okay wait the the phrasing here is weird
there's like an extra beat or something
my
new address
[Music]
I mean that's just like actually
beautiful
around here
's my
mind
at nine
and then you listen to he holds that
note over
[Music]
to the next chord which also sounds good
shit
thank you
I forget it's another one of his like
hanging around the extensions or the
um
the sharp sharp 11 to the ninth Jazz
speak
uh forget but how you know like
shoegazing Jazzy does that sound
[Music]
on the seventh also tense
[Applause]
foreign
[Applause]
[Music]
and then after that really pretty kind
of break we get the oh write it down now
that you get it get it it's all right
it's so rhythmically fun I'm like
obsessed with this flow write it down
now that you get it get it to write it
down that's just so great
button down now did you get it get it so
write it down now did you get it get it
and then it goes get it get it oh it's
so good
it's so exciting and Abe I think starts
hitting snares on
like the beats and stuff like
okay so Abe's going
little poly
meter
poly something
I can never keep them straight I just I
don't think I'll ever be able to do it
success court is the best that's just so
great
[Music]
and you're mentioning Incubus and I'm
just like maybe
that's why because Incubus was all about
the sus2 chords like
man
[Music]
remember that song like I wish you were
here
it's like all four fourth fourth vocal
harmonies and and and and and ninths and
sus two you know all that like like the
opposite of like major and minor chords
just like really open blocky chordal
Harmony I think they could so anyway
that's just so beautiful
and then we get this nice Fade Out
[Music]
I just love his style so that's it for
this video stay tuned for the next track
on the album see you next time
