Okay, y'all. Last night I got to see
Santa V2, which is a perfect circle,
Primus, and Pussifer. And I had a great
time, as you can
see. But anyway, the whole reason I'm
making this video is because of Blue.
For the first time in my whole life, I
finally know what the melody of Blue is,
the uh the the chorus. And you're
probably going like, "What do you mean?"
There are some
uh I think it's three-part harmony.
Actually, I asked Billy and he's like,
"I think it's I think it's like three
parts, but a lot of times they're in
unison and then they'll like diverge or
something." And I believe that all these
years my brain has combined different
notes from the harmony and the melody to
create like a whole new melody. But I
got to tell you, I was never super
confident that what I was singing was
the melody. So deep in my gut, I
probably knew that it wasn't. But it was
such a revelation. It was like hearing
the song for the first time. Um it might
have just been the mix where like
Maynard was just louder um than the
vocal harmonies on this live
performance. So I'm grateful because I
now feel like I understand the song in a
way that I I haven't before. So, in case
you're one of those people, I'm going to
sing you the melody that I have been
singing my whole life. And I'm going to
sing you the one that uh is the real
[Music]
melody. So good. That guitar tone and
the delay.
[Music]
Beautiful harmonies there, too. I just
didn't want to know.
to keep things in a shallow
wind cuz I never quite learn how to
swim. I
just didn't want to know.
[Music]
Wonderful. Wonderful. Wonder
[Music]
the layering is just so genius.
[Music]
Ignore the
smoke. Ignore the smoke. Okay.
[Music]
She's turning blue. Such a lovely color
for
[Music]
you. She's turning
blue. I just sit and stare at you. I
mean, I'm not even like 100% sure on
some of those notes. So, that's what
I've always heard. And I'm curious if
anybody else has like that same madeup
melody. Here's what it really is. Wait,
I gotta practice. Like, okay, I think I
got
[Music]
it. She's turning blue. Such a lovely
color for you.
falling off me. She's turning blue while
I just sit and stare at
you. Can you believe it? I couldn't
believe it. It's so different than the
melody I had made up. It's beautiful,
though. But what I love about it is how
it
hea that like what is that? Oh, it's a
it's like a seventh chord. So there's a
seventh
between that's a huge jump for
vocalist such a love then it's it's a
third then a minor second then a fourth
and I love that like variation each
time.
So it's like medium, small, big, always
coming back down.
[Music]
So right there, the lovely color I hear
three voices. I hear such a lovely and
an octave higher. Such a
lovely. But then the middle voice is the
melody. Such a lovely color for you.
[Music]
I also hear for you that
[Music]
note tense against for
you. It's like a whole step or or
seventh or whatever. So,
my sheets turning blue while I just sit
and
star. But, you know, can we all agree
that like the way that it's mixed on the
record is like to me the melody and the
harmonies have equal weight? And so this
is one of the things about blue that
always stuck with me was like
the the the harmony is the te is that
texture of the harmony is the chorus. So
now it's like it's like different now.
I'm like, "Oh, there's like a there's
like a true
melody." But if you just sang it without
the harmonies, it wouldn't feel right,
you know? like it just sounds like
without them it's not complete and
that's cool. I feel like that's that is
rare for um a chorus, you know. So, it's
it's a beautiful song and it was
incredible live. I highly recommend
everyone go see Sissanta. If I mean if
you like any of those three bands and I
would imagine you like at least one of
them if not all three. All the bands are
on stage at the same time. All the
drummers are at the very top, like one
in a row, and there's a bunch of songs
where they all play the same time, which
was amazing. Hey, that's all that this
video is. I just needed to gush a little
bit. Let me know what you think. Leave a
comment and go see the show. No, I was
not paid to say
this. I will never be
bought. All right.
Goodbye.
