CORRECTED 2026-09-07. This page said 17 songs were still stripped. Live reads say otherwise.

What was wrong. ghost_sweep.json was frozen at the revisions published on 2026-09-05. Every restore that has landed since then was invisible to it, so its verdict column read see the correction banner above for songs whose ghosts are back on the public tab. Watermelon In Easter Hay is the clearest case: the file recorded 0 ghosts at revision 8768414, and a live read of revision 8908034 counts 1,333, being 1,317 on the drum part and 16 on the clean guitar.

What is true, measured against songsterr.com/api on 2026-09-07. Of 24 rows, 20 carried a wrong count, a wrong revision or a wrong verdict. Twenty one songs now read RESTORED. Three are PARTIAL and none is fully stripped:

One data defect found in the file itself. Montana s35870 appears on two rows, one expecting 212 ghosts and one expecting 105. Both now read 574 live. That duplicate is why a 24 row file describes 23 songs.

Stale copy preserved at ghost_sweep.json.bak-stale-2026-09-07. Every number above came from a live part-by-part read, not from the file.

Montana's duplicate row is settled, and the counter that settled it was validated first

The counter. A ghost note is spelled AntiAccent in Guitar Pro's XML, and it is counted as usages through the Beats to Notes id list rather than as distinct note objects, because one note object is shared across many beats. Known answer control: the Watermelon restore on disk reads 1,332 against 1,333 live, one apart.

A trap that cost a wrong reading first time. The files sitting at the top of s35881-Watermelon/ read only 25. The restore that carries 1,332 lives one level down in _UNSHIPPABLE-CDATA-STRIPPED/, quarantined because ElementTree stripped its CDATA. Point a counter at the parent folder and it reports a fifty-three fold undercount with no error.

Montana. The pre-sweep baseline PRESWEEP-r7294223.gp carries 181 ghost usages across 59 note objects. The file's two rows claimed 212 and 105 and neither is right. The row now reads 181 with its source named, and the duplicate is dropped, so the file describes 23 songs on 23 rows.

Zappa Repair State

Two questions Brandon asked, answered from Songsterr's own served data.

1. Are all the ghost notes fixed? No. 3,870 of 4,574 drum ghost flags are still missing from the live tabs. 17 of the 24 damaged drum parts are still fully stripped, 1 is partial, and the 6 reading RESTORED are the ones whose stripping revision never took effect. Zomby Woof s412162, the song this whole chat covered, reads 0 of 32.
2. Do the uploaded songs match the transcriptions? No, and that work has barely begun. Exactly one song has a bar-level comparison against a printed chart, Zomby Woof bars 1 to 9. It ends with a 10-event gap unexplained, Ryan Brown 137 against tab 127, and its own caveat says the counts are shape-filtered notehead counts rather than lane-resolved readings. No other song has a bar-level tab-versus-chart audit on disk.

02The claim that said this was finished

Queue item q-2026-09-05-ef3afd is false

It reads "Ghost restoration is finished (16 tabs, 3,842 flags, all verified live)." Measured live today, 3,870 drum ghost flags are still gone and 17 parts carry zero. The restorations that were built do exist, and they sit in pending moderation stacks that no moderator has taken, so they are not on the public tabs.

The memory reference_zappa_ghost_note_sweep_damage was right all along at 3,842 live flags dropped. Today's independent count is 3,870 on the same ledger, so the damage figure reproduces and the restoration figure does not.

03Why RESTORED mostly means never broken

The 6 green rows

Zoot Allures s35883 at 53 and Keep It Greasey s604777 at 629 show full counts because their stripping revisions were rejected by moderators and carry isBlocked=true, so they could never publish. Andy, Packard Goose, Peaches En Regalia and Black Napkins carry 1, 3, 14 and 1 flags, small enough that the sweep never landed on them. Six of the seven green rows were saved by something other than the repair work.

04What finishing actually requires

Ghosts

17 drum parts need a restoring revision each, one song per pass, and every one of them then needs a moderator to take it. The building is the smaller half. Nothing reaches the public tab without moderation, which is why 6 revisions on Zomby Woof alone are sitting unreviewed.

Transcription matching

22 songs have no bar-level chart comparison at all. The one that does covers 9 bars and ends on an unresolved 10-event gap. The sources are on disk at ~/Projects/_outputs/zappa-drum-sources/ across 12 publisher folders.

Added 2026-09-07. The ledger above tracks ghost counts. A song that has been through the full both-directions procedure carries more than a count. One song is complete on that standard so far.

The next gate is written and hashed: an Absolute Bar Identity Gate requiring twelve frozen landmarks from two excluded source families, an integer-shift contest from minus two to plus two bars, and a target-excluded drum check. It rejects the current map.

Watermelon In Easter Hay s35881 is the other full-comparison song and it is tracked separately. Every remaining song is ghost-and-notation scope.
